Track & Field
We’re Not Just A Track Team, We’re A Family
By: Clarissa Granke
Our track participants at Crestwood are looking forward to a great year as they push themselves harder than ever to prepare for the upcoming meets that they will compete in. They run hard at practice and run even harder at their meets to push themselves to reach their fullest potential.
They also push each other to help better their teammates. Together, the students on the track team widely feel as if they are not just a track team, but a family. They bond together on the track and laugh together afterwards. Many of them have gotten closer because of the sport and are grateful for it.
Track and Field is a very physically demanding sport that requires participants to be on top of their game and demands great discipline and determination. Track is not for someone who is not dedicated to running or who doesn't have the drive to keep up with the physical demands. However, for someone who loves the sport, they can thrive. Many students are very passionate about the sport and run to clear their mind. Kiyon Robinson, 12th, stated, "Track is something that gets me through the day. It's my muse. It helps me keep and gain control of my thoughts and emotions. Track has made me who I am. I love it. The sport itself makes me feel like I can do anything I put my mind to. Track is my yin and everything else is my yang."
