If you or anyone else is interested in going to the Crestwood pageant on May 13th then please contact a contestant or Ms. Leggett in the bookkeeper’s office. Tickets are five dollars in advance and seven dollars at the door. Miss Crestwood is someone who other students will be able to look up to. There will be five award-winning categories and five titles for our contestants to look forward to. Reminder for contestants, pageant practice is May 2nd, 5th, 9th and 12th. May 5th will be the date for the clothing to be approved. Good luck, ladies!
Derby Day

Derby Day brings excitement from the Kentucky Derby right to Downtown Sumter, SC. The premier event for Sumter takes place on May 6, 2017. The Derby Day Sumter party features an evening of Southern grace, charm, and hospitality that would not be complete without the food and fashion that makes any derby event memorable!
Alive @ 25

The National Safety Council “Alive at 25” course is offered to drivers 15-24 and is designed to be an early intervention program. The focus is to help young drivers adopt safer driving practices, take responsibility for their behavior in various driving situations, and to be aware of many of the typical driving hazards. Also, it is mandatory that Crestwood High School students that wish to drive to school participate in this class. They are only required to take this course once during their high school career. The next Alive at 25 course is on May 20th, and the Driver Safety Course for Crestwood’s rules and regulations is on April 26th; you can sign up for both with Mr. Nickens in room 4508.
Freshmen Interims

Attention all freshmen, interims are being issued on May 4th. Be prepared to go to homeroom in the morning to pick up your interims. The school year is coming to an end, so be sure to bring up any low grades to pass!
Artists Wanted!!!
The Knightly News would like to feature some student artwork and/or a student drawn comic strip as a part of our school coverage. If you have artwork that you would like to submit, please see Mr. Edge in room 4502 or 4506 to see about specifics. Artwork would of course have to be school appropriate. Deadline for the next publication will be April 19th.
School Talent Showcase
Crestwood will host a school talent showcase as a fundraiser for the American Heart Walk on Wednesday, April 26th during 4th block in the Fine Arts Center. Performances will consist of students and faculty. Tickets will be sold during lunch for $3.00 leading up to the showcase and $5.00 on the day of. See Mst. Sgt. Avery for more information.
Prom Time
By: Hailey Weber This year’s prom will be held on Saturday, April 22nd from 8 p.m. until midnight in the school gymnasium. Prom tickets must be purchased from the bookkeeper, Ms. Leggett by 2:30 on Friday, April 7th. Right now tickets are currently priced at $35 for singles and $60 for couples. You have to be a junior or senior to purchase tickets and your date must be between the ages of 14-21. Forms for regulations and sign up forms are located in the front office and also outside of Ms. Mullinax’s door room 3508. All school fees must be paid by 12 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19th in order to attend prom. You will get your invitations and tickets only if you purchased tickets and you’ll be responsible for getting your date their ticket/invitation. Have fun and be responsible.

2017 Miss Crestwood Pageant

ATTENTION LADIES OF CRESTWOOD!! The yearbook is hosting a 2017 Miss Crestwood Beauty Pageant on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center. Tickets will be $5.00 in advance and $7.00 at the door. A winner from each grade level will be crowned and an overall winner will be announced. Come out and support your fellow classmates as they vie for the title of Miss Crestwood.

Tuomey Applications

The Palmetto Health Tuomey student volunteer application is an application that involves students in a summer program at Sumter’s Tuomey hospital. You can receive the application from Mrs. Ham in room 2020. The application consists of five pages which contains basic questions like your name, cell phone number, and classes. You will also need two adult letters of reference with complete telephone numbers, mailing addresses and emails. The application must be completed by the student only, but parent permission will be needed for the Tuberculin Skin Test, MMR and MMR2. This is a great opportunity for students that are interested in the medical field. The deadline for this application is April 8th, so hurry and get your application in!
All English Honors students are required to participate in the Summer Reading program. For each course, students are required to write essay responses for two novels read during the summer. One novel will be assigned while the other novel is self-selected. Below you will find the link for the letter providing information for each English course's required reading.
